April 2006 Newsletter

Hi dog lovers

We had a welcome surprise the other day. We received our final approval from the IRS. It was a surprise because we didn't expect it so soon. It usually takes 6 mos or more to get it. Our application actually was filed the middle of January. We haven't got our state approval, but that soon will follow, since the state has been notified of the federal approval. Usually it is the other way around with the federal being more difficult and taking much longer. For those people who have donated money to our cause this eliminates any of the concern over "pending."

We are in the final approach to the free workshop on "First Aid Emergency Care of a Dog". It is scheduled for Thursday, April 20th, 7-8:30pm at the Kailua District Park on Kainalu Dr. Dr Gianna Masca DVM ( Feather & Fur Clinic) will be the speaker. She has been an emergency vet for many years and knows what a few steps of first aid can do to save a dogs life. She will be demonstrating on her dog---NO other dogs are allowed (city ordinance). We are asking for pre- registration, so we will know how many people are going to attend. This is important for the hand-outs etc. You may register by going to the web site, or the above address, or by phone: 262-6857 .

Hope to see you at the workshop,
Lois
